Because of people like you, Ruth’s Refuge is able to provide a welcoming home to refugees and asylum seekers in New York City.
Is my in-kind donation tax deductible? Yes!
You can print a tax receipt here.
Donation Guidelines:
Ruth’s Refuge accepts a wide variety of quality new and used furniture and household goods:
We are unable to accept used bed frames, mattresses, linens, clothing or oversized furniture.
All upholstered items must be from a pet and smoke free home.
Dishware, glassware & flatware must be par of a complete set (minimum service for 4)
Ruth’s Refuge Screening Process: Please fill out our donation approval form, including photos of each item you would like to donate. This way we can assess condition and suitability for our clients (and make sure we have enough space available in our storage). Dimensions are also very helpful.
Getting Donations to Ruth’s Refuge once they are approved:
You can bring your donation yourself or arrange delivery to our storage space in Brooklyn. We will provide you with our drop-off hours and an appointment link.
If you are in NYC and donation 1 or 2 high-need items (couches, dressers, table & chairs), we can connect you with a moving company that offers a low flat-fee service to pick up from you and deliver directly to us.
If you would like to hire movers for a larger delivery, we can make a recomendation.
